HORIZON Europe project DTO-BioFlow | Integration of biodiversity monitoring data into the Digital Twin Ocean
The Horizon Europe project DTO-BioFlow will unlock “sleeping” biodiversity data enabling the sustained flow of these and new data into the EU Digital Twin Ocean. It will create a digital replica of marine biological processes combining sustained data flows, models and new digital tools and services supporting the objectives of the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030” and the EU Biodiversity Strategy.

B-USEFUL will contribute to achieve the ambitious policy goals set out by the EU Green Deal and the Biodiversity Strategy 2030 by developing user-oriented tools and solutions to conserve and protect marine biodiversity, effectively building and improving upon existing European data infrastructures and governance frameworks.
HORIZON Europe project SEAwise | Paving the way for the effective implementation of Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management in Europe
SEAwise is a dynamic research programme aimed at understanding the current state-of-play of fisheries management across Europe, and facilitating the widespread implementation of Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management (EBFM) in the region. Through a targeted research programme, and in close collaboration with the current stakeholder network, the programme aims to develop a fully operational, synthesised management advice tool that highlights the benefits – or potential trade-offs – of fisheries management decisions.

Today started the 51st SIBM congress on emerging forms of environmental pollution at sea. Coispa presented the characteristics of marine macrolitter in the southern Adriatic Sea using MEDITS data.
Plastic is the most abundant litter category on the seabed. There are about 35 bags and 27 bottles each square kilometer in the Southern Adriatic Sea! Today started the 51st SIBM congress on emerging forms of environmental pollution at sea. Coispa described the distribution and the composition of marine macrolitter in the GSA 18 using MEDITS data.

Following local warnings, a record specimen of Blue shark (Prionace glauca, L. 1758) with a total length of 3 m and a body weight of about 100 kg was entrusted to our Laboratory.
