Abstract
The outcomes achieved in the MAREA Framework project (MARE/2009/05 _ Lot1), related to the mapping and modelling spatial distribution of seagrass meadows, bioconstructions, nursery and spawning grounds of demersal and small pelagic species, fishing grounds, MPAs and FRAs, as well as stock units identification are outlined evidencing their relevance for the Integrated Maritime Policy and the ecosystem approach to fisheries management.
